Located in the Western Ocean lies the Land of Fire. Vulcarna. Considered to be the most difficult of the main continents to live in, it's environments are unforgiving and brutal. Dry as a bone, and hot as fire, dehydration will kill you quickly if one of the native beasts doesn't do so first.
Vulcarna has many harsh environments. Half of the continent is desert, while the other half is dry grassland. The two halves are separated by a large mountain chain that contains many volcanoes. The most notable of the mountains are Mt. Vallice and Mount Fenris. The main source of fresh water is the River that stretches from North to South across the continent.
The creatures in Vulcarna are widely varied. All of them have found ways to adapt to the heat and lack of water. Amongst the most dangerous of the native inhabitants of Vulcarna are Sand Worms and Dragons. Fortunately, both are very uncommon even in their territories.
History
[/u][/center]The creation of Vulcarna is debated by many. Many still believe in the legend of our World's creation - that Fenris created the continent in the ancient times after Mahkah, Anila, and Nerina had created the lands of Earth, Wind, and Water. The legend has it that Fenris used the power of fire to hasten Vulcarna's creation so that he may catch up to his rivals in the creation of his domain.
Others believe that Vulcarna was created long ago by underwater volcanoes that slowly formed a continent that eventually surfaced and grew with each coming eruption. It is indeed fact that the volcanoes located closer to the edge of the continent continue to expand Vulcarna. The most important of these volcanoes would be none other than Mount Fenris - where Fenris himself is said to live to this day.
In the ancient times, Vulcarna was a forsaken land that few could survive in. With the harsh and unforgiving conditions life was difficult and almost impossible for those who had no knowledge of survival in such environments. Heat and dehydration quickly killed off most travelers from the other continents far before anything else could.
Despite this, travelers came from Kylantia across the Fintan Ice Bridge, and life along the Conlaoh River flourished. Small clans and villages settled down along it's banks. The Conlaoh River was the vein of life in Vulcarna. Flooding season was a welcome sight for everyone, as were the rain showers that came very rarely in the land.
Eventually clans began to break away from the river and adapt to the more forsaken parts of the land of fire, becoming more isolated from each other than before. Any ties with other clans and settlements slowly vanished. Before long, things began to turn for the worse.
Tensions began to build as a severe drought began to dry up the limited water sources in the continent. With fewer sources of water, the Clans began to flock to the river. When they arrived, the River had shrunk to only a fraction of it's former size. Small skirmishes occurred by the river that would soon escalate to a full blown war.
Violence tore through the land in a matter of days. The smaller clans were quickly eliminated from the fight, while the two largest clans fought mercilessly against each other in order to wipe the other from the face of Vulcarna.
The Battle of the Red river was the first and last major battle that was recorded in this war. The two largest clans finally faced off for a final confrontation in the Pyrros Canyon. For three long days and nights the fighting commenced. Blood was scattered amongst the stone, and many lives were lost.
At last, on the fourth night, a massive quake shook the continent. confused and dazed, both clans ceased their fighting and waited. A powerful crack shook the air and smoke began to rise up from within the Tanjet Mountains. Lava exploded at the top of the largest Mountain in Vulcarna- Mt. Vallice, a volcano that had long been considered to be inactive.
The eruption lit up the entire mountain range, including the canyon. Amidst the smoke, ash, and lava, a fiery figure ascended from the mountain. "Look." The flame spoke, in a voice that could be heard across the continent. "Look at what your fighting has created."
Bemused and shocked, the creatures began to look around in all directions until everything became clear. "You have destroyed what you had fought over." The river was deluded with the blood that had seeped down from the rocks. "Cease this fighting."
After the eruption of Mt. Vallice, rain fell down upon them. The downpour had washed away the blood as well as the hatred amongst the survivors of the fighting. Since then, all of the clans of Vulcarna now celebrate the eruptions of Mt. Vallice as a sign of rebirth and renewal throughout the land in a large festival that
Used to take place
Vulcarna would see a few hundred years of peace after the first eruption of Mt. Vallice.
Nearly four hundred years later the Fintan Bridge shattered for unknown causes, cutting Vulcarna off from Kylantia. The ice bridge was the only way to and from Vulcarna at that time, so Vulcarna would be isolated from the rest of the world for a long period of time.
It is here in Vulcarna where the Dark War started. At the Festival of Fire in the Ethon Crater, a Tiger Nekomata released a Dark Element into the world that would shadow over every creation, great and small. This is a war that has yet to be one. A war that we must fight. The Dark Nekomata may have been banished to the shadows of Kurori by the Fire of Vulcarna, but the fighting still continues.
You notice that the handwriting of the last two paragraphs seems different than the rest. It matches the handwriting that wrote 'used to take place' under the crossed out words.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/sub]
